Isi artikelThis article describes how celebrating National Foreign Language Week has increased cultural awareness and appreciation among students enrolled in foreign language courses at one of the largest historically Black universities in the nation. Before the Department of Foreign Languages began observing this week, students showed very little interest in anything more than completing their foreign language requirements for graduation. Now, after four years of increased activity and student participation during National Foreign Language Week, more students are expressing an interest in pursuing minors in foreign languages and are seeking to learn about the traditions and ways of liJe of the people who speak other languages.
