The overarching purpose of this unprecedented special issue is to put to rest, once and for all, the egregious myths and errors associated with the many varied misrepresentations of Edgar Dale's Cone of Experience that contaminate certain sections of the literature within the field of educational technology. Often described as a "cone of learning" or a "learning pyramid," these are spurious combinations and permutations of Dale's bonafide Cone, with the addition of unsupported percentage figures purporting to show rates of learning or retention.
