Isi artikelDecades over different organizations have gained benefits through various QMS approaches, i.e. ISO 9001/ TQM. These approaches evaluate QMS performance through audits/ assessments, concluding observations of conformance/ non- conformance & major/ minor based on gravity. Overall it indicates performance of organization/ function only at broad level; for a certain period e.g. annually. With aim to embark journey of excellence, for a huge automobile manufacturing plant there was need to have an ECSA model to objectively evaluate individual department performance on parameters of excellence. These excellence parameters are linked with organization vision & reflect performance of key elements of QMS approaches viz: TQM, TPM, ISO/TS 16949. The basic goals of all these systems being continuous improvement & reduction in variation, with P-D-C-A approach is well executed through this model. Few parameters, e.g. implementation of HEP projects, variability reduction projects, QC Stories, DWM effectiveness, 5S scores etc. are evaluated. This model gives a path for journey of excellence, without conceding or amassing the routine operations. The contradict situation of having monthly assessment, without additional investment/ manpower; was innovatively solved through evolution of ECSA model. The model was launched in form of internal competition within various manufacturing groups. This created momentum, rigor and zeal for excelling, benefiting growth & aligning long term organization goals. It has multi-fold achievements e.g. MVML Plant rated – Level 5 (highest level) in TMW 1st year assessment, for Manufacturing Management process. This contributed achieving Stage-7 for Auto Sector. Other benefits attribute to continuous improvement culture enhancement for organization
