Recently, the importance of data grows very fast and managers focus on how to get it, how to analyze it and how to apply it. In that manner, huge data from a shop floor makes their values high. To collect data from a shop floor, MES (manufacturing execution system) plays a basic and important role. It collects data from production equipment, test procedures, and so on. But, there is one thing to cope with adopting MES to their shop floor – the price of MES. MES needs information infrastructure of shop floor such as network, information system, data acquisition equipment, and so on. Also, there are a lot of functions that users do not want to use it and it makes the implementing price of MES high. In this paper, we suggest a framework of configurable MES for SME (small and medium size enterprise). Configurable MES means that each MES module could be coupled with other modules and/or it operated stand-alone module. It reduces the size and price of MES solution – end user could adopt MES modules, which they want to use. With an end-user survey, we simplify the function of MES with respect to specific industries and its production types. It raises the usability of traditional MES for SME and reduces the implementation price of MES. Also, it makes easier to collect and store shop-floor data. In addition, we apply configurable MES modules to Korea automobile parts industry to build several examples based on their needs, production type, and their production process
