The Korean government strategically developed regional industrial clusters for a balanced development of national industry, based on which it has expected the active fortification of R&D capabilities and production capabilities of regional enterprises through the creation of synergy effect and economy of scale. And yet, majority of companies in the clusters have maintained small-and medium-sized scales focusing on production and have lacked investment for their future capability such as R&D investment. Taking this into consideration, the government have made effort to develop infrastructure through various support programs such as competitiveness-strengthening projects of industrial complexes. In order to enhance the efficiency of the support policies, it is vital to analyze the efficiencies of related companies more meticulously for the exploration of systematic and effective management plan. Therefore, we measured the efficiency of companies in regional clusters by using DEA mode. Purposes of the study are as followings. First, we aim to distinguish relatively effective DMUs from ineffective DMUs by measuring relative efficiency of companies in clusters as DMUs and to analyze the cause of inefficiency. For this, we use DEA models, including the CCR-and-BCC model. Second, we attempt to present the order of efficiency of DMUs by using the concept of super efficiency. Third, in order to measure productivity of DMU based on change during the term, we try to confirm the cause of change in productivity of DMU through MPI analysis. Fourth, we classify DMUs into regional strategic industries and attempt to evaluate the difference of efficiency among industries by using Kruskal-Wallis test.
