In hospitals, many activities are performed in an effort to improve the quality of nursing care. One such activity is for nurses to compare a daily action plan with their actual actions and evaluate the differences between them. However, it is unclear what a viable method for evaluating nurses’ actions would be, and it is difficult to visualize a daily action plan. In this study, we propose a method for visualizing a daily action plan and a method for evaluating nurses’ daily actions. First, we derived evaluation items by examining nurses’ actions while considering the features of nursing care. Secondly, we considered the actions which should be visualized and the information required for appropriate evaluation. Next we created a daily action plan sheet encapsulating this information. We then sought to improve the sheet in order to encourage better visualization of the action plan, which needs to be visualized. Finally, we proposed a method of evaluating nurses’ actions using this daily action plan. By using the proposed method, we verified that 90% or more of actions which should be visualized can be visualized and that the plan was effective for evaluating nurses’ actions. The proposed method can be used to evaluate whether a nurse has carried out the planned actions. Furthermore, the differences between the plan and the actual actions can be used to improve nursing care. For example, this method can be used to reduce nurses’ overtime by considering the causes of the differences between planned and actual action
