Isi artikel This article is a study to improve the machines to minimize the loss of leather production for use as raw materials for leather products such as leather seats in cars, bags and other products.tIt was made to order for each customer. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the thickness of leather by setting the machine to obtain the desired leather thickness. It was damaged by the thickness of the leather is not standard. In this case, the leather has a percentage of damage equal 0.22% of the total productions. Hence, it is important for the production department to form a quality improvement team of the company to identify the root causes of this issue. Preliminary studies indicate that there are many factors involved, including how to determine the thickness, speed and temperature control is not consistent with the operation. These factors result in a rate of loss. The Improvements Machine Methodology is deployed to analyze the cause by applying DMAIC(Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control). There are several tools that are employed to solve this problem, for the example, the Pareto Chart, cause and effect diagram, control charts etc. These studies show that the speed of the machine inconsistencies and temperature control to leather inappropriate. It is the loss of leather thickness which affected a significant. The result has been able to solve the problem of non-standard thickness and can minimize damage from 0.20% to 0.13%, It is a good solution,a quality improvement team to bring this approach to use the other projects
