The modern world is increasingly being defined by the term `globalisation’. Important changes in the global economy have become the main determinants of this phenomenon. Of course, we must not forget that globalisation should not be analysed without looking at social, political and cultural factors, given that all these are bound together. The aim of this article is to attempt to answer the following questions: (i) Does an interdependence between the processes of globalisation exist in the global economy? (ii) What influences the process of globalisation and can this process be defined? And (iii) What is the interdependence between the globalisation of the knowledge-based economy and the information society?.
