Isi artikel
This paper traces the implementation of coaching principles as a means of engaging stakeholders in a sustainability programme that was initiated in 1994 by The Yalumba Wine Company, reputedly Australia’s oldest family-owned wine company. In essence this approach is a strategic investment for instigating and managing change in the pursuit of sustainability. Coaching is very different from other helping modalities, and may be described as a management tool to increase organizational alignment, cultivate intellectual and social capital, and build long-term competitive advantage without compromising the life options of current and future generations. In the context of social ecology, coaching is a collaborative, multi-paradigm activity that facilitates the allocation of scarce resources by connecting people with their environment. Significantly, the paper illustrates how the strategic use of coaching by Yalumba’s social ecologist has contributed to organisational citizenship and a culture of sustainability by promoting a sense of community and sense of place at the workplace.
