Isi artikelResearch showed that instructional vocabulary materials for bilingual students that focused on studying individual words along with the corresponding meanings were ineffective in developing students’ vocabulary mastery. Learning vocabulary must take account of lexical units because the storing in memory does not occur randomly but in chunks or units. In a word, suitable vocabulary materials should be lexically-based materials. The study was aimed at developing lexically-based materials for Vocabulary Course at the English Language Education of Sanata Dharma University Yogyakarta. The final product was a set of instructional materials comprising two sections as required by L2 vocabulary learning in light of Lexically-based Language Teaching, namely, contrived learning and incidental learning. Having undergone the validation and revision processes, the materials were deemed appropriate because they facilitated vocabulary acquisition by raising students’ awareness of chunks, providing authentic exposure to language, and enhancing productive vocabulary in written form. Besides, their comprehensiveness was another advantage.
