This study was conducted in one cycle using different techniques of teaching in the third “Cawu” of the 2000 / 2001 academic year. Based on the identified problem, the researcher taught how to find specific information in reading text by explaining how to answer Yes/No questions and W-h questions and How … questions by using pictures and wall-chart . The use of these techniques was intended to motivate students’ interest in learning to get specific information in a reading text, so students would not get bored , and to help them to better understand the reading materials. The result of the research revealed that there was improvement in the students’ achievement. By the end of the study the scores of the students’ were higher than before.
