Isi artikel
The debate about language-in-education policies and practices in Lebanon has witnessed in the very recent past a shift from emphasis on the cultural-linguistic struggle between Arabic and French/English to emphasis on the practical attitudes towards language education that is leading the country in the direction of full-fledged multilingualism in society as well as in education. This paper discusses the decrees and regulations issued by the various governments in Lebanon as well as the prevalent practices in order to throw light on the related issues of national identity, upward mobility, and educational opportunities and equality.
