Isi artikelTheories of literature have been created to enable people to understand the message that is sent by the author. Some theories say that understanding about the the author’s background is very important in understanding the message in a story, but others say that analysing the intrinsic elements only is sufficient to get the message of the story. Maybe understanding the message of a story is not a problem when the readers are the ones from the same culture, but this is going to be a big problem when the readers are not familiar with the culture. This article is to show how the understanding of the related culture plays important part in understanding the whole meaning of the story. At the same time it will lead to the explanation why the existing western theories is not sufficient to analyse the non western stories.
