Weaving is a woman activity passed by ancestors to young girls from generation to generation. This kind of occupation is a contribution made by women to parents, husband and family to assist the need of family and to show the inner beauty of girls. This research has a purpose to explain the meaning of weaving for women in North Mollo, East Nusa Tenggara. This is an ethnographic research. The research revealed that social change has shifted the role of women in villages. They tend to buy blanket from the market instead of do the weaving themselves. Now, they lose skills in traditional weaving. Weaving in North Mollo is now facing a transition and the impact is that the symbols in weaving disappear gradually. Only certain people still maintain the weaving custom because of the influence of people from outside on the traditional design for an economic reason. From that activit y, the researchers draws a conclusion that weaving is now facing a problem of spiritual and cultural values degradation. From the research, the writers hope that the government pays attention on the preservation of classic weaving design. The government should control the pricingso that the buyer and seller get profit equally and the activity itself should be included as part of the school curriculum. Whereas the sources about traditional weaving can be in a form of publication of books about it.
