Isi artikelIn the past 10 years, more and more women have showed their participation in the workforce which was previously dominated by men. Women do not have to work for other people as employees, but they are also able to create jobs or become entrepreneurs. There is almost no limit for women to choose a job interesting for them. Women's participation in the field of work and entrepreneurship is becoming widespread. Many have studied women empowerment or women contribution in development. However, only few gave attention to women participation in the field of creative industry or businesses. This research paper is meant to explore the role of women entrepreneurs in creative industries. Interviews with several women entrepreneurs in Bandung who involve in creative industries namely, fashion and indie-movies, reveal how these businesses challenge today's women to take a part. The research uses qualitative approach and employs discourse analysis. Bourdieu's theory of capital is used to analyse the transcript and make some interpretation. The interviews describe that being creative for women entrepreneur is to make new product and deliver it to the customers. Besides gaining popularity, they view it as their benefit when customer is satisfied with their product. With their cultural capital and network they could manage their businesses to succeed. This paper gives insights that today's women in Bandung are more creative and empowered.
