The effectiveness of an organization depends on several resources, such as capital, methods, machines and human. Among of those resources, human resource is considered as the most important. Human resource plays its role as a starter to other resources. Realizing the importance of human resource, industry/organization (I/O) implements careful selection process to find the right employee. This paper will report on the outcome of explorative research in basic characteristics that recruits should have and needed by I/O. The finding explained that recruits who needed by I/O are person with balance combination of such characteristics consists of knowledge, skill, ability and other characteristics, Good mark of basic knowledge is a must because it predicts the understanding of their major, but it isn't the only criteria. Personality finally plays for mix education should be developed by university's management. These are education for knowledge and personality.
