Isi artikel
Leadership, social networks, and social capital are closely related. Yet, majority of the discussions on leadership is focussed heavily on the vertical relations or hierarchy between leaders and their sub-ordinates along with attributes attached to the leaders. Meanwhile, when discussing social networks we are mostly focused on horizontal relation (heterarchy) among people. This paper discusses the role of holarchy, a combination of hierarchy and heterarchy and its relation to social capital and leadership. Lack of vertical social capitals whilst the horizontal social capitals are abundant will result in involution in organisation ie. changing without progress or even worse, it will create cliques which are predatory to organisation and moral hazards among its members. Moreover, the social networks of leaders follow the scale-free networks pattern in which only small f raction of the organisation members have large amount of connections. These networks are highly resistant to random perturbations however "vulnerable" to designed attack. Adding more connections to some people may alleviate the network vulnerability.
