People usually perceive urban development as a symbol of modernization in terms of political, economic and cultural life. Unfortunately, this perception is not really true as we also find poverty as the result of unemployment, underserved people and poor social facilities in slums. In this article the writter tries to descibe in a short way, this phenomenon and tries to show the factors of poverty in urban areas and urbanization and how far the development in rural areas can contribute in preventing urbanization.
