Text book generally is used in classroom for media of teaching learning. It seems that without a text book, the learning process is not complete. One benefit of using text book is that psychologically text book supports students to get better achievement. Nowadays, most of text books for translation Mandarin are in English. It is rare to find the ones in Indonesian, which make Indonesian students learning Mandarin, get difficulties. Since the long objective of the research is to create good text books which can improve students’ skills in translation. It is needed to make a previous research on whether any correlation among grammar knowledge, vocabulary mastery, text book and assessment score (mid test and final test). Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used in this research. The result of the research is that there is a strong correlation between grammar and vocabulary mastery while there is a weak correlation between text book and assessment result.
