This study was conducted to perceive the problems in determining the quality of translated texts. The descriptive analytical method was applied to this study in the forms of interview, questionnaire as well as document study. Respondents were translators and experts in translation. The result of the study indicates the problems encountered by translators are: omission/addition and the accuracy of the author style reflection in choosing language features, stylistic, tone and characterization. In terms of problems in determining the quality of scientific texts are appropriateness on the use of natural terminology, terminology suitability to contexts and meaning, the limitation of repetitive words to preserve the consistency of plot, problems in translating formula or symbols. Furthermore in the case of problematic issues in translating literary texts are the equivalency of idioms
