This is a diachronic study focusing on a language system of Banyumas dialect. The reflection on English functions as a guide to understand phenomenon in the dialect since Halliday‘s theory lays its foundation in English, and this study applied the theory as the analysis framework. This employed two versions of Ronggeng Dhukuh Paruk, (RDP) the Javanese and the English. The purpose of the study was to veal the similarities and differences of the relational process in the Javanese and English, as it is represented in the novel of RDP. This study used a qualitative approach, focusing on the relational processes contained in the clauses of the novel by adopting Halliday‘ theory on transitivity. This also compared two languages. The data were collected by reading and note-taking, and the samples were purposively taken, based on a criterion of relational process characteristics of Halliday. Based on the analysis, the following conclusions were drawn,1) relational process in both languages have similarities and differences. The former included the common existence of the attributive and identifying type and the use of linking verb to stand for the process representation. The later was the representation of zero (Ø) element in Javanese which was realized in the verb to be in English, 2) it was identified some differences between the clause representations. These differences included the differences of relational types, the difference of the being or non-being elements, the difference of process types, the difference of language unit level, and the difference of semiotic system.
