This was a chunk of the presentation of my student that I want to share with you, ?Okay, my friends, I want to describe you about my origin. I origin from Malang. But I can not talk over (lebih), but hope it will benefit. I am is shy person. I habit to speak in Javanese. I have basic for Javanese language. I study here because I reject from UM (Universitas Negeri Malang).? To some extent, this presentation, was very communicative. This is because, those utterances can be understood among Indonesian learners . Unfortunately, those utterances cannot easily understood by the native speakers of English. The reason the Indonesian learners could understand much better among themselves is the fact that the students have the same linguistic background. The same linguistic background which has been put in the student‘s brain has led them to understand better each other‘s utterances based on the similar linguistic system underpinning their framework of thinking, that is Indonesian lingusitic system. This concept had come to an end that particular EFL learners would only be well understood by their own friends with the same linguistic background. Other listeners with different linguistic background will have difficulties in understanding others.
