Isi artikel
The study aims at identifying skewing between grammatical form and semantic structure and discovering how several instances of skewing are translated into Indonesian. It focuses on finding out whether the translator used the same grammatical form or different grammatical form in translating the interrogative sentences. The data were taken from a novel entitled Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and its translation entitled Harry Potter dan Pangeran Berdarah Campuran. To analyze skewing between grammatical form and semantic structure, the theory of translation proposed by Larson (1998) was used. Meanwhile, the theory of contexts of situation proposed by Halliday (1979) was utilized to get the meaning of sentences carrying skewing. The results show that the translator translated some of the interrogative sentences into the same form (in question form). There is no significant loss or gain of information found in the Indonesian translation.
