Isi artikelThe purpose of this study is to critique the translation of Part 3 in Unit 1 Language and Tone of Source Text: Model Business Letters, Emails & Other Business Letters: Cara Membuat Surat, E-mail, dan Dokumen Bisnis Lain Berbahasa Inggris written by Shirley Taylor and L. Gartside and translated by CVP Renate Pohan S.S. The translated text consists of 3,916 Business English words intended for the target readers who are in not only in the business field but also the teachers and students of business education. It is significant to accentuate that the English source text is presented side by side with the target text, Bahasa Indonesia, using the translation methods such as transposition, modulation and adaptation. In order to analyze the text thoroughly, the authors divided it part by part. Each part is compared and analyzed to arrive at a conclusion. The findings of the data indicated that the translation of Part 3 in Unit 1 applies the different translation methods. Generally, the translation is acceptable since Indonesian readers find the translated text simple, easy to follow and comprehend. The vocabularies are commonly used in daily conversation. Nevertheless, the translator should pay careful attention to the typographical errors, wrong translation and diction of the words to avoid ambiguity.
