Isi artikelYouthful media production has become a celebrated phenomenon over the last two decades. The relative ease of availability and a?ordability of ?lmmaking facilitates new forms of uptake and creative content production across a wide range of genres and contexts. However, the majority of young people engage in moving image production primarily as a social activity (Lenhart et al., 2007; Ito, 2009a). In addition, there are also a growing number of youngsters aspiring to be professionals and even to become famous through their creative work in the ?lm and TV sector. In the United Kingdom, the absence of professional licenses to practice is dominant and, due to structural changes in this sector over the last two decades, skills development has undergone dramatic changes, producing new and shifting career paths and learning trajectories (Grugulis & Stoyanova, 2009). The Norwegian ?lm and TV industry resembles in many ways the situation in United Kingdom, with a wide range of small independent production companies. Second, internet and digital media have opened up opportunities for economic activity for young people beyond the existing ghettos of youth labor (Ito, 2009b). Thus, producing and working with moving images is now made easier for young people outside the big hubs of the ?lm and TV industry. As a part of the wider research ?eld on digital media and learning, there is a growing interest among scholars in looking into the growth of creative workers who are making their way into the sector.
