Isi artikelThe current debate about the potential utility of agriculture biotechnology for food and agriculture is focused on the associated potential risks and opportunities. the debate is also interwined with other concerns such as food safety, animal welfare, industrialized agriculture and the role of private sector corporations. The contribution of biotechnology to poverty alleviation and enhanced food security and nutrition, especially in developing countries has received little attention beyond blanket statements of suppot or opposition. There is an urgent need for a more focused debate on the role of agriculture biotechnology, a debate that should and is being led by people themselves.
