Entering the third millenium, as the seller's market starts to move to the buyer's market, innovation becomes increasingly important and crucial in winning competition, therefore it is a challenge to formulate and implement the appropriate innovation strategy. This article propose to contribute a frame of thinking of the importance of an innovative strategy in developing sustainable competitive advantage and also as an effective tool in the increasingly fierce competition in the new millenium. However we should first discuss the changing view on innovation, the shift of the innovation paradigm, and the development of products, from a traditional to a flexible approach and the steps in innovation and product development.
