Isi artikelThe spread if violence in some of Indonesia provinces prompts us to think seriously about the shared values of the nation state. The shared values can be tracked down in historical events and manuscripts, such as the soetardjo's petition of 1936. The Soetarjo's petition was a petition sign and put forth by indonesian members of the "Volksraad" meaning people assembly, namely, Mr. Soetardjo. Mr. Ratu Langie, Mr. I.J. Kasimo, Mr. Datoe Toemenggoeng, Mr. Ko Kwat Tiong and Mr. Alatas. Although the petition was accepted by the Volksraad it was dissapointingly refused by Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherland. The Soetardjo's petition is of the almost importance for understanding the drive of Indonesian people struggle, rather than being driven by violent motives, the seemingly violent struggle was triggered by a failure to negotiate the Indonesian independence in a peaceful way.
