This article is an attempt to show how central is language in humanism as a cultural movement. After stating the basic understanding of humanism and succiently showing its historical background, the first part of the article explains how language is particularly a human phenomenon. The second part of the article tries to account for the close relationship between humanism, culture and language. Humanism is basically a cultural movement which emphasizes the dignity of the human person as a free, capable and intelligent agent. Humanism considers language as central, because language is not just a product of culture but also its producer.
