Abstract
This article presents a model of narrative research in conjunction with fiction-based research. It explains the methodological steps involved and reflects on their implications for psychological research, particularly when working with stigmatized populations, with the aim of broadening perspectives on a given topic. By valuing the uniqueness of individual experiences, narrative research enables the questioning of absolute truths and the construction of alternative meanings to dominant, hegemonic ones. Fiction-based research, in turn, fosters affective engagement through storytelling while also enhancing the confidentiality of participants’ information. This article outlines the following methodological steps for systematizing this approach: selecting fiction-based research, producing “field texts,” transforming them into “research texts,” and defining the literary style. These steps are intended to inspire research practices that integrate ethical and aesthetic considerations, as well as the intersection of theory and art.
