The articles in this Special Issue derive from papers which were presented at the Workshop on Functional Discourse Grammar (FDG), held at the University of Oviedo (Gijón Campus) in September 2009. The theme of the workshop was the Morphosyntactic Level (ML) in FDG and accordingly the articles included here deal with different aspects of the morphosyntax of natural languages and how these can be handled in the model. Additionally, the papers also explore the organization of the Morphosyntactic Level in FDG in order to assess its explanatory adequacy
