Harris’ critique of linguistics can only be truly understood if one takes into account the abundant background from which it emerged; its true originality can only be seen if one reads Roy Harris and the scholars and schools he criticizes. It is a call for those inspired by Roy Harris to be driven by the same fire of critique, rather than merely followers of a paradigm deemed already established.
