This research investigates which communal bonding activities contribute to the development of emotional intelligence and technical skills among members of the Santa Monika Church BSD Catholic Youth Choir (Koor Orang Muda Katolik or OMK). Employing a qualitative approach supported by NVivo Software, this study draws on interviews with seven choir members and field observations to understand how activities like choir camp foster emotional growth and musical as well as organizational skill enhancement. The findings indicate that choir camp acts as a key bonding experience, encouraging emotional connection, collaborative learning, and leadership. Emotional competences—such as recognizing, interpreting, applying, and regulating emotions—emerged prominently in both musical and event-related contexts. Meanwhile, technical skills like pitch accuracy, breath control, and event planning were strengthened through guided practice and peer modeling, reflecting principles of Social Learning Theory. Overall, the study emphasizes the value of communal music making as a means of nurturing personal development, with implications for the church’s youth organizations, education, and event programming. |
