Currently three main characteristics that become the global benchmark in the development of internal combustion, including high performance and low exhaust emissions. One way is to utilize the energy wasted by the installation of butterfly valves in the exhaust system. Installation of valves on the exhaust has been done on the internal combustion engine with a large chamber capacity and multi cylinder. Research conducted in this thesis aims to investigate the effect of the addition exhaust valves in four stroke single cylinder Otto engine. This type of research carried out experimental research. How to learn is by comparing the completion of the power, torque, specific fuel consumption and exhaust emissions before and after the installation of valves on the exhaust there is an increase in maximum torque of 4.2%, increase the maximum power of 6.6%, decrease in specific fuel consumption by 26,4%, the average level for CO and HC respectively decreased by 10.13% and 7.51%.
