This thesis presents the design analysis and development as well as the Implementation of a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system for Coal Material Handling monitoring and controlling conveyor systems used in industrial automation. The primary objective is to enhance the efficiency, improve real-time monitoring, and streamline maintenance processes in conveyor applications. The SCADA system integrates with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to gather data from various sensors and actuators across the conveyor system, providing operators with a comprehensive overview of system performance through a user-friendly Human-Machine Interface (HMI). Here, we found that Real-time monitoring and automated controls have streamlined processes, resulting in a 30% reduction in downtime and a more consistent flow of material through the conveyor system. This efficiency not only optimizes productivity but also contributes to cost savings in the overall operation, at this occasion IDR 3.274 billion. Also, the system can be used as the Improved Data Management and Analysis. Based on the Simulation and field-testing results demonstrate the system’s ability to optimize conveyor speed, reduce energy consumption, and improve throughput. Furthermore, the integration of alarm systems and fault detection mechanisms ensures prompt corrective actions, minimizing potential disruptions. The paper concludes with recommendations for future developments in SCADA-based conveyor systems. Since the key components such as remote control, automated fault detection maintenance, and data logging for system analysis are incorporated into the SCADA system, hence the development process involved defining system requirements, designing the hardware and software components, and conducting rigorous testing to ensure the system’s reliability and responsiveness under different operational conditions. The results of the study indicate significant improvements in system performance, operational transparency, and reduced downtime, proving the effectiveness of SCADA technology in conveyor system applications. |
