| The need for English proficiency in the hospitality industry has become urgent due to the increasing number of international guests visiting Indonesia for many different purposes: business, tourism, education, and more. In language teaching, modules have become a necessity for the learning process. However, the hotel in this study has not developed any ESP module for the hoteliers. This study aims to create an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) module for hoteliers at a five-star hotel in Jakarta using the ADDIE model by applying the first three stages of the ADDIE model: analyze, design, and develop. A needs analysis was done through a semi-structured interview with the English teacher at the hotel as the representative of the Learning and Development (L&D) team. The interview result showed that the hoteliers urgently needed to improve their English proficiency to communicate with guests since they still lacked speaking and listening skills and confidence in interacting in English. These results were taken into consideration when designing and developing the ESP module. The module was designed for food and beverage and culinary hoteliers. The module focuses on improving the hoteliers’ skills in speaking, listening, pronunciation, and developing ideas on three topics: describing dishes, giving directions, and small talk. Role-play, listening comprehension, and games were added to the module as activities and assessments. Text-to-speech websites and AI were used to make the audio and generate pictures. The result of the expert review received 94 out of 100 percent and is categorized as ‘Excellent.’ |
