Isi artikelSince 2005, the industry of history textbook has been handled by BNSP ( Badan Nasional Standar Pendidikan / National Board of Education Standars). The board issues for Indonesian history textbooks which cover content, presentation, language and legibility, and layout. The criteria are so elementary. This article in intends to discuss the cultral inheritance, the most importannt aims of teaching history, as criterion. In order to infuse Indonesian cultural identity into young generation, I propose to use Pancasila as genetivus-subyektivus or foundation of thinking in evaluating history textbooks. From Pancasila viewpoint, history textbook is considered good if the majority of its contents are narrating about social justice. Hierarchically, the next focuses of history textbooks are democracy, togetherness (unity), humanity, and belief in God.
