People judge the role of koperasi (Indonesian cooperative economic enterprise) to be non existent in the national economics on the one hand, but supportive to the national economic growth and development on the other. People clain that the negative side is due to lack of management and organizational skills, to low capital and limited acccess to both private and government sectors. Strong government intervention in the cooperatives is the other underlying reason. This paper is an attempt to describe the weakness of koperasi in terms of organization, strategy and management.
