The draft of the Spatial Planning Act now under the discussion of the DPR (the Indonesian House of Representatives), is expected to be issued as the Spatial Planning Act by the end of 1992 and will be implemented in early 1993. The act is intended to solve problems of resource allocation, conflict of interest in the use of space, jurisdiction over space and law enforcement and coordination. This paper briefly discusses the problem, in accordance with the implementation of the wawasan nusantara (archipelagic state principle) at sea.
