Isi artikelMost plastics, currently used in packaging applications are petroleum-based. However the plastics do not degrade over many decades under normal environmental conditions. Thus there will be an environment problem. To overcome the problem, some researchers proposed an environment-friendly and biodegradable ‘green’ plastics based on renewable resources. The objective of this paper is to propose a raw material from renewable source for biodegradable plastic bag in Indonesia by considering manufacturer aspect and properties itself. Methodology research was based on the literatures study. The study was started by discussing some biodegradable polymers from several types of renewable resources. The discussion considered the manufacturer and properties aspect. Next the analysis were made. The result proposed that the Starch-based as a raw material from renewable source for biodegradable plastic bag in Indonesia.
