The difficulty in understanding and the recent debate on the dual role of ABRI bring about idea of looking into the matter from the engineering process of the pollitical thinking about the role itself. One obvious thing is that the role of ABRI has become more and more dominant in almost all walks of life encompassing the social, pollitical, economic, ideological, cultural, and religious fields. It is concluded that the dual role of ABRI has something to do with the genuine Indonesian ways of thinking which are still influencing other pollitical thoughts. The problem is to seect one as reference to develope the organization of pollitical thinking amidst a society undergoing post modernism and globalization.
