Abstract
One of the most popular business fields among entrepreneurs is the culinary business. This field is always a promising business opportunity despite its high competitive level as well. Having a culinary background is not a guarantee of sustainability or the success in this field. Entrepreneurial characteristic is one of the most important factors that guarantee a business could sustain and grow. This research’s purpose is to observe the prominent entrepreneurial characteristics and dimensions among the respondents and crucial for culinary entrepreneurs to be able to survive and succeed. Respondents are the culinary entrepreneurs in Jakarta. This research using quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data was obtained by distributing questionnaires to 150 respondents and the qualitative data was obtained through in-depth interviews with 10 respondents. As the result showed, the prominent entrepreneurial characteristics that determine the success in the culinary business were honesty; integrity, confidence, responsibility, and creativity, while the prominent entrepreneurial dimension was personality.
