According to article 57 (2) on the health act no. 23 if 1992, the state hospital and the private hospital shall do the social function in the service of health. It means that the hospital should five ore attention to the needs of health service for poor society besides looking for profit. It is the fact that the private hospitals in the shape of foudnation and association have been changed from social institution into the institution based upon a social - economic principle, therefore the hospitals are organized economically in order to keep their existence, in accordance with their social function. The examples of the private hospitals based on the foundation and association in yogyakarta are the panti rapih hospital and the PKU muhammadiyah hodpital. Both hospital are organized by cross - subsidized concept and humanity - funding. They are doing diversification effforts not only in the field of medical service but also in other sector of business.
