This study aimed to investigate ninth-grade students’ perceptions of using Quizizz to learn English, in terms of reading skill, vocabulary, grammar, and spelling, as well as students’ motivation and engagement. The participants of this study were 23 students from St. Bellarminus School, Menteng, Central Jakarta. This study used quantitative and qualitative methods to get the data. The instruments used in this study were a questionnaire and an interview. The students were asked to give responses to the questionnaire containing 11 statements and 11 open-ended questions to find out their perceptions of using Quizizz to learn English. The result of the data analysis were in the form of percentages and also mean scores. Furthermore, 5 of the 23 students were interviewed in order to reconfirm the result of the data gathered in the questionnaire. The results of this study showed that the ninth-grade students had positive perceptions towards the use of Quizizz in their English learning. The students agreed that Quizizz could help them to improve their reading skill, vocabulary, grammar, and spelling. Moreover, the results of this study also showed that the students felt more motivated in the learning process and Quizizz helped the students to be more engaged to practice improving their English learning. There are also suggestions provided related to this study. |
