Abstract
In the recent digital era, the development of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) have been influencing and transforming the corporate governance of organizations in both the private sector and public sector. In the public sector or government organizations, the use of ICT is seen to improve performance and efficiency, particularly in the public service delivery. The implementation of decentralization in Indonesia is seen to encourage local governments to be more innovative in running the government, among other innovations in the form of innovation using ICT, in the narrow definition is defined as e-Government. An exploratory approach is undertaken to examine the implementation of e-government by the provincial governments across Indonesia. As this study is an exploratory in nature, a literature review using a desktop and library research approach is conducted to analyse a set of secondary literature on e-government. Four stages of e-government maturity models have also been used to examine the e-government portals of 34 provincial governments in Indonesia. This study found that most of the provincial government have offered some form of e-government services. The vast majority of these government websites are categorized are in initial transactional stage with only a few provinces have reached a fully transactional stage.
