Talking about law and its underlying philosophy, we realize that we in fact are talking about other social sciences as well. This is due simply to the fact that law as a social factor is closely related to other social factors such as economy, geography, sociology, anthropology, and politics. When talking about the science of law and other social sciences, we are confronted with the general view that these sciences are non-exact. Therefore it is difficult to find points of certainty in law that can be used as a foundation upon which we base our exact axions. Is this really the case? This article attempts to show that these points of certainty do exist, or at least that societies do tend to look for ones in forming the cause and effect relationship in their daily. We will discuss four maxims underlying the essence and existence of law.
