The sudden change in the learning environment, from face-to-face to the online environment make a lot of problems. the problem starts because not everyone is prepared to learn in an online environment. The teacher does not prepare to use the technology and provide a good class activity, and the student does not prepare mentally and does not have the right technology to attend the online class. The participants of this study were EFL learners, with a total of 30 university students from the Faculty of Language and Education at the Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia. The participants are from the English Education Department and Primary School Teacher Education Department. The participants were asked to answer a questionnaire, and five students were chosen randomly to participate in an interview. The result of the study showed that the demotivation factors found in this study are (1) Lack of Learning Strategies, (2) Teacher and Teaching Problems, (3) Learning Environment, (4) Technical Problems, (5) Peer Influences, (6) Low Language Learning Ability. From the demotivation factors found in this study, the most demotivation factor is the learning environment. From this study, the teacher can learn what demotivated the students, and they can construct an effective teaching method and class activity that motivates the students to learn. |
