Abstract
Introduction: Primary dysmenorrhea is women's most common gynecological problem and is often the cause of disturbance in daily activities. The prevalence of primary dysmenorrhea in Indonesia reaches 54,89%and is most often found during productive age. Manyfactors can affect dysmenorrhea, and one of them is physical activity. Globally, about 84%of women are said to be physically inactive. Thehigh prevalence of primary dysmenorrhea and the high percentage of physically incantive women are the basis for the interest inconducting this study.This study aimsto see the correlation between physical activity intensity and primary dysmenorrhea severity.Methods: This study is an analytic cross-sectional study approach. The data was collected in August 2020 with 107 respondents ranging from 17 to 22 years old. The data was collected using the Baecke questionnaire to assess physical activity intensity and Verbal Multidimensional Scoring System and Visual Analog Scale to determine the degree of primary dysmenorrhea.Bivariate analysis to see the correlation between physical activity intensity and primary dysmenorrhea severity is done using Kendall’s Tau correlation test. Results: Thisstudy showsthat most respondentsexperienceddegree 1 primary dysmenorrhea (45,8%) and have a moderate level of physical activity intensity (58,9%). The bivariateanalysis didn’t show any significant relationshipbetween physical activity intensity and primary dysmenorrhea severity (p=0,290)Conclusion: There is no correlation between physical activity intensity and primary dysmenorrhea severity.
