Liberalization of financial markets following the experiences of the 1970s and 1980s when much regulation was in place in support of the policy of an accelerated economic growth by targeted / planned development of heavy and chemical industries is very much welcome. However, it is argued here that liberalization of the financial markets can be effective only by a policy of collaboration between the private sector and the government.
