Isi artikelThe integration of analytical methods, heuristic approach and 3D visualization technique in a decision support system package has become more and more promising in order to solve multi dimensional real-world problems. Integration of discrete-event and geometric simulation is a main basis of virtual factory development. This paper presents method for integration of heuristics-based facility layout optimization in virtual factory simulation. The integration method includes data structure and integration, object integration and application integration . A case study of inverter casing production system is preferred to show the potential of the proposed model of integration to solve a multi-row machine layout in an advanced manufacturing system. An advanced model has been developed to solve different layout types incorporating evolutionary algorithm to obtain a more integrated layout optimization package to support virtual factory simulation.
